The URL listed above for 'Online Implementation' was broken in December 2000 and no forwarding address or new address has been found. The function formerly performed by this site has been born again in improved form in a new Metadata Validation Service managed by Peter Schweitzer.

Description:
The Metadata Validation Service provides an on-line implementation of Peter Schweitzer's metadata parser to check conformance with the CSDGM. The user provides the URL to a metadata file in a form acceptable to mp and is returned an error report and an output file in HTML, ASCII, DIF or SGML.
Cost: none
Notable Plus:
Scrolling windows into the error report and original metadata document simplify correction.
Notable Minus:
Does not support local extensions to CSDGM, or any of the output modifications possible with a local copy of mp.
