Spurred on by an idea from Dick Vraga (U.S. Geological Survey) and Andrew Jennings (East Central Wisconsin RPC), a small committee is exploring the possibility of holding a digital orthophoto quality assessment workshop later this year. Purely in the discussion stage, the concept is to hold a one day workshop designed to give local governments the information and training they need to assess the quality of digital orthophotos they will start receiving this summer and fall.
Potential agenda topics include: fundamentals of digital orthophoto inspection (provided by USGS experts), a review of contract specifications, an overview of vendor QA/QC procedures, local government speakers with first-hand experience, and an overview of available assessment tools.
Many details must be worked out before the workshop will become a reality. To gauge interest, the planning committee would like your input:
- What is your current level of experience with ortho QA/QC procedures?
- What topics should the workshop cover?
- When should it be offered?
- Should it be held more than once?
