New positions
Rick Mechelke has accepted a position at the Chippewa Valley Technical College as their GIS Instructor. He was formerly the Land Records Coordinator for Dunn County.
Jeff Walters is now the Land Records Officer with the WI Department of Natural Resources Real Estate section. He was previously a GIS project leader in the WI-DNR GIS Services section.
Awards
A team from UW-Milwaukee received a third place award in the ESRI Best Practices in Science Modeling Challenge. Dr. William Huxhold, Ahmed Abubaker, Marc Gelenian, Diana Hu, and Sutapa Chatterjee received $500 for their project “Building an Inventory of Contiguous Developable Parcels for the City of Milwaukee.” Each year college and university faculty and students who use the ESRI ArcGIS ModelBuilder are invited to submit their model projects to the Best Practices in Science Modeling Challenge. Independent judges from the academic community reviewed entries based on innovation, usability, and functionality.
