The importance of using Remote Sensing to monitor the Earth and its environments will be recognized with an official ‘Earth Observations Day’ named by the USGS and AmericaView on September 21st, 2006.
Earth Observations Day will serve as an effort to promote education and awareness of remote sensing in K-16 classrooms and laboratories. In the years to come, Earth Observations Day will be accompanied by data and activities for teachers and professors to highlight remote sensing in their classrooms.
