The North American Cartographic Information Society (NACIS) is holding their annual meeting on October 18-21, 2006 at the Inn on the Park hotel in Madison.
The meeting kicks-off with “practical cartography day” on the 18th with a series of workshops including Google mashups, web graphic-optimization, labeling engines, and relief shading techniques for depicting landforms.
Thursday and Friday consist of two parallel tracks throughout the day, covering topics such as geovisualization, using internet mapping services for conservation, and uses of public/private data.
NACIS, founded in 1980, is an organization comprised of specialists from private, academic, and government organizations whose common interest lies in facilitating communication in the map information community.
