John Ellingson of Black River Falls, WI has been named the new Wisconsin Geodetic Advisor. The appointment was announced several days ago by the National Geodetic Survey a federal agency. Ellingson replaces David Moyer who has served in the state advisor position for many years.
Most recently, Ellingson was the Land Information Coordinator and Surveyor for Jackson County, WI. As the state advisor, Ellingson will have a Madison office within the WI Dept. of Transportation. He will split his time between Madison and an office in Black River Falls. Initially, John’s duties will be directed toward work on the WI Height Modernization Program.

The Dept. of Transportation’s Surveying and Mapping Section to which the State Geodetic Advisor position is attached, has recently moved from the Hill Farms State Office Bldg. in Madison to the northeast side of the city near the Dane Co.
