The application deadline for the 2007 round of the National Spatial Data Infrastructure (NSDI) Cooperative Agreements Program (CAP) is coming soon. CAP funding is intended to support innovative projects that develop infrastructure necessary to effectively discover, access, share, manage, and use digital geographic data. A total of $1.2 million in funds is available for the FY 2007 program. Proposals must be submitted through the federal grants.gov website no later than 1:00 p.m. (CST) on January 26, 2007, with projects selected expected to commence by September 30, 2007.
Wisconsin has a strong track-record of successful CAP applications. CAP funding has supported several projects at the State Cartographer’s Office over the years, and in 2005, three Wisconsin organizations received CAP awards. In 2006, State Geographic Information Officer David Mockert and the WI Department of Administration received an award to study, and then implement, a statewide geographic information coordinating council.
