The next step toward a Wisconsin Geographic Information Coordination Council (WIGICC) is a “summit” meeting to be held on September 6th in Stevens Point. The purpose of the upcoming meeting is to summarize ideas and comments collected from stakeholders over the last several months, and to help finalize WIGICC’s responsibilities, structure, and strategic approaches.
Major items noted on the draft agenda include the presentation of a “hybrid” organizational model developed from stakeholder feedback, along with a discussion of mission and vision, and core WIGICC functions. Also on tap are small group sessions on the potential administrative home for the council, and the most viable enabling method (executive order, legislation, etc.) for forming the council.
From the results of the summit, a comprehensive written proposal will be crafted. To whom the proposal should be presented remains to be determined, and is a point of discussion planned for the summit.
Anyone interested in attending should RSVP to gc_comments@lists.wisc.edu by August 31st.
