The Wisconsin Land Information Association (WLIA) education committee has truly outdone themselves with an outstanding lineup of speakers planned for their upcoming meeting in Wausau on June 5th – 6th.
Several nationally-known speakers will be on hand, including a keynote address by Bruce Joffe with GIS Consultants from Oakland, CA. Bruce will update the audience on the pending lawsuit involving parcel data in Santa Clara County, CA. Will Craig from the University of Minnesota will discuss the vision behind the National Land Parcel Data initiative, while Earl Epstein from The Ohio State University will cover the democratization of land information systems.
In addition, Ben Niemann, Professor Emeritus from UW-Madison, will come out of “retirement” to deliver a talk entitled “National Land Parcel Data: A Vision for the Future – Did Wisconsin’s Experience Matter?”
Day one will be capped off with a panel discussion on the impediments to, and opportunities for, public data access.
The second day is scheduled to cover a wide variety of topics ranging from digital imagery to applying GIS to community and economic development.
Registration for the meeting runs $100 for WLIA members, $120 for non-members. Daily registration is also available.
