Job Summary:
This position primarily supports the Land Survey Manager by post-processing GPS data collected by QSI field staff, maintaining survey databases, training new field staff, and supporting existing field staff with regular feedback sessions and technical support.
Duties:
- Common daily tasks will include the following: review of prior day’s static/RTK, session, photos, logs and other field data; upload data to OPUS; provide technical assistance for field surveyors
- Weekly tasks will include the following: process RTK and total station data using Trimble Business Center or other software; update and maintain the QSI monument database
- Monthly tasks as follows: review field protocol with and solicit feedback from field surveyors; recovery reports for NGS monuments; complete monument reports to be published through the OPUS project system
- Deployment into the field for ongoing training/mentorship and occasional project support.
- Support efforts to streamline office-field communication
- Assist in creating and implementing ground survey plans during and after the proposal phase and maintain throughout project life cycle
- Consistently meet schedules and data quality standards
Qualifications:
Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Geodesy, Civil Engineering or a related science field preferred (commensurate training and experience can be substituted for a degree)
- Two years of relative experience
- Experience with databases and spreadsheets
- Experience with GNSS survey practices and instrumentation
Preferred
- Applicable technical training.
- Experience with producing typical Land Surveying industry related drawings in a CAD platform.
- Familiarity with Trimble Business Center and Trimble data collectors
- Understanding of Reference Systems and Datums
- Aptitude for consistently following detailed instructions
- Excellent attention to detail
- Proficiency with GIS software
- Certification as a Land Surveyor in Training or the desire to pursue licensure as a career goal
- Two or more years of relevant field experience
