The Wisconsin Geographic Information Coordination Council (WIGICC) is holding their next meeting on June 10th in central Wisconsin. The day will be split into two sessions, with the Council meeting in the morning, followed by a “Network” meeting in the afternoon. Everyone is welcome to attend both sessions which will be held at the Marathon County Public Library located at 300 N 1st Street in Wausau.
The agenda for the 9 a.m. to 12:00 noon Council meeting will cover a variety of topics, including pending legislative issues, the current status and coordination of 2010 orthophotography projects, and preparation for the afternoon Network session. Also on the agenda are several Council business-related items such as finalizing a Council business plan, and discussing guidelines for establishing WIGICC communities of practice.
In the afternoon Network meeting, attendees are invited to join an open discussion on four topical areas in which the Council plans to focus their future activities: emergency management & response, engaging the business community, data infrastructure, and data sharing policy. The intent is to gather feedback and opinions on the proposed future directions of the Council. For those unable to attend in person, a toll-free teleconference line and online web conference will be available.
The Council, established in the fall of 2008 after several years of work by GIS professionals throughout the state, serves as the primary forum and coordinating body for geographic information and technology in the State of Wisconsin.
