Last fall, the State Agency Geographic Information Coordination (SAGIC) team decided to change their usual meeting format to encourage broader participation by all state government GIS users. While past SAGIC meetings were always open for anyone to attend, the “board meeting” format with representatives from various state agencies was proving to be ineffective in reaching out and facilitating communication between agency GIS users.
The new format is designed to encourage more open communication, quick agency updates, featured presentations, and discussions on hot topics in state government. The format will be tweaked as necessary based on the feedback of attendees.
The first meeting with the new format is scheduled for January 13th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:30pm, in room 266 of the Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection in Madison. The full agenda is posted on the SAGIC Web site. Anyone with an interest in state government GIS issues is welcome to attend, whether they work for a state agency or not.
