Saturday Science at the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery is a monthly series offering free science education programs for families and the general public. This Saturday’s event is entitled “From Planetwalking to Crime Fighting: Charting New Directions with Global Information Systems.” The event is billed as an opportunity to
learn how integrating digital mapping with robust data is reshaping how we live and make decisions every day, from building houses to monitoring health trends to fighting fires. Meet Planetwalk founder John Francis, an environmentalist and UN Goodwill Ambassador. Join UW-Madison scientists for presentations and hands-on activities designed to introduce kids and adults to the dynamic world of GIS.
The event begins at 10 a.m. in the Town Center at the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery, 330 N. Orchard St., Madison (University Ave. at Campus Dr.). See the Wisconsin Institutes for Discovery Web site for more details.
