University of Wisconsin faculty, staff, and students are to coming together for the annual Geospatial Summit to discuss geospatial projects and initiatives. The 2014 Summit will be held on Thursday, April 24, 2014, from 9:00 am to 4:30 p.m. in the Pyle Center on UW-Madison campus.
Last year’s Geospatial Summit attracted over 130 geospatial professionals. This year will feature three keynote speakers: Professor Steve Ventura, Soils Department & Director of Land Information & Computer Graphics Facility will present, “A Place for Urban Agriculture”; Professor Annemarie Schneider, Center for Sustainability and the Global Environment will present, “Monitoring Global Urban Expansion”; and Professor Eric Compas, UW-Whitewater Geography & Geology Department. The Summit will also include a series of research presentations, a lunch session by Len Kne, Assoc. Director of U-Spatial/Univ. of Minnesota, and an informal social gathering.
Attendance at the Summit is open to all, and there is no registration fee.

The Summit is organized by the UW-Madison Geospatial Alliance, a group of faculty, staff, and students involved in GIS. The Alliance is a network for sharing information and resources, and helping support student needs through a help desk, online course schedules, and information about service-learning and career opportunities.
