Mark your calendars! An icon of Wisconsin land information is planning to retire later this spring. Professor Bill Huxhold from UW-Milwaukee will be honored on May 21st from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. for his 27 years of service to the University. Prior to his time at UW-Milwaukee, Bill implemented what is considered to be the nation’s first computer graphics based geographic information system at the City of Milwaukee.
More details on the May 21st event are forthcoming.
“Bill was an early pioneer in the application of computer mapping and GIS to local government applications. Bill helped create a whole culture of sharing knowledge of best practices around GIS in professional organizations such as URISA and APA.”
