A few weeks ago, on October 11, we launched a short online survey to gauge interest in lidar training. The survey was open for 10 days and in that short time we collected over 250 responses. There is clearly a lot of interest in lidar training.
The following are some of the highlights from the survey.
– 93% of respondents indicated a workshop would be of value to them or someone they supervise.
– More than half of respondents indicated they would find value in the following topics: format of lidar data; how lidar data is used in Wisconsin; working with lidar in ArcGIS desktop and 3D Analyst; and lidar accuracy reports and metadata.
– Respondents identified their top lidar application areas as land and water conservation, planning and zoning, and hydrological applications. Slightly less interest was expressed in emergency management and forestry applications.
– A 1-1/2 day, low-cost, in-person workshop in Madison in spring 2017 was seen as acceptable by a vast majority of respondents.

Stay tuned for more information as we digest the data and determine an appropriate course of action. And thanks to all of you who took our survey.
