November 19 is GIS Day around the world. In Wisconsin, at least eight events in five cities are scheduled. You can search for events near or far through the GIS Day web site.
GIS Day events can take a variety of forms. Some are open houses, others involve presentations at schools, some are expositions, et al. In some cases, the events are held on another day during the same week (which also happens to be Geography Awareness Week).
