The Wisconsin Historical Museum is hosting a map exhibit featuring maps from the collections of the Wisconsin Historical Society. The exhibit runs now through November 9, 2013. The exhibit, entitled “You are Here: Maps and Meanings,” features a wide array of maps both current and historic. In addition to early maps of the state, the exhibit includes propaganda maps, Native American maps, maps showing ethnic diversity and racial identity, and even maps of frac sands and Chronic Wasting Disease. An animated display shows the evolution of Wisconsin county boundaries over time using data from the Newberry Library’s Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
Hours for the exhibit are Tuesday through Saturday, 9 am to 4 pm. See the Museum’s Web site for more details on the exhibit, and for location and direction information.
