About the Position:

This position is located in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Rock Island District Headquarters, Real Estate Division located on Arsenal Island in Rock Island, Il.

Responsibilities: 

  • Serves as the Program Manager for the Real Estate Mapping and GIS Program.
  • Develop real estate maps using Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) or Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software and standards.
  • Analyze data compiled from a variety of sources to develop civil works planning and acquisition project maps.
  • Write, review and approve real property land descriptions.
  • Recommend and manage contracting out of mapping services.
  • Serve as technical point of contact for representing the district’s cartographic and GIS interests.

Qualifications:

A. Degree: Bachelor’s degree (or higher degree) in cartography, or a degree with a major that included or was supplemented by at least 30 semester hours in cartography and/or directly related science, and related mathematics. Such course work includes, but is not limited to, cartography, astronomy, geodesy, photogrammetry, physical and geological oceanography, computer science, land surveying, geophysics, physical geography, and remote sensing. The 30 semester hours must have included at least 6, but no more than 15, semester hours of college level, non-business mathematics or statistics (i.e., college level algebra, trigonometry, calculus, or scientific mathematics or statistics requiring equivalent college-level courses as prerequisites).

B. Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major in cartography, or a major that included or was supplemented by at least 30 semester hours in cartography, and/or directly related science, and related mathematics, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.

C. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes analyzing geographic data, interpreting geographic information, and developing real estate maps using computer software (i.e. Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) or Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and/or documents (i.e. deeds, data, court documents).
