The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin (PSC) is currently looking for an Energy Data Story Developer to perform program evaluation, impact assessment, information systems programming and statistical analysis, which will assist in developing policies and procedures to improve the Office of Energy Innovation’s energy efficiency and clean energy programs.
The PSC is an independent state agency that is responsible for regulating more than 1,100 Wisconsin public utilities, which provide electric, natural gas, combined water and sewer utilities, and certain aspects of telecommunications service to households and businesses throughout the state! In addition, the PSC administers several public-facing programs and grants. The PSC’s mission is to ensure that safe, sufficient, and reasonably priced utility services are provided to all Wisconsin customers.
This position serves in the Division of Digital Access, Consumer and Environmental Affairs (DACEA). DACEA is responsible for ensuring customer access to essential services, analyzing environmental impact of applications before the Commission, and managing the Commission’s grant, energy innovation, and statewide energy efficiency and renewable energy programs.
Position Summary:
This position will lead the Office of Energy Innovation in analyzing statewide energy usage data and will develop a public facing data reporting system to allow stakeholders, policymakers, and all Wisconsinites the ability to view, analyze, and understand Wisconsin’s energy usage and generation data by source and end use type. Further, this position will be responsible for developing the next generation design and modernization of the Wisconsin Energy Statistics Book and will be tasked with creating engaging data stories that communicate the current and future trajectory of energy use within the state of Wisconsin. In doing so, this position will collaborate with the office’s program managers and other PSC units as well as state and federal agencies in conducting evaluation and analysis of a broad range of energy grants and programs.
A qualified candidate will have each of the following:
Experience working with ArcGIS
Experience managing data from multiple sources
Experience explaining technical information to a non-technical audience
In addition to the qualifications listed above, a well-qualified candidate will have at least one of the following:
Experience working with energy efficiency or clean energy in a professional setting
Project management experience
Experience working with external partners, such as a third party vendor or contractor
This experience may have been as a business liaison or product owner
