GIS Worker - Seasonal
This position performs tasks to support various functions of the Utilities Division including but not limited to: Storm water infrastructure inspections and various GIS and data entry duties applying to municipal water, sewer, storm utilities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Utilities
- Ability to perform field work on a daily basis to collect information needed
- Assist in preparing utility maps
- Assist in the data creation and entry of City GIS utility data
- Ability to use a computer for an extended period of time on a daily basis
- Ability to handle several tasks as directed
- Operate field data collection equipment including a GPS receiver and digital camera
- Miscellaneous tasks related to GIS in the Utilities Division
- Other duties as apparent or assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Driver’s License
- Experience with ESRI/ArcGIS software
- Knowledge of GIS concepts
- Basic Knowledge of Microsoft Office environment and PC’s
- Ability to perform strenuous physical labor and heavy manual tasks when required, including lifting up to 70 pounds
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- 1-2 years of experience with ESRI/ArcGIS software
- Experience with Global Positioning Systems (GPS)
- Experience working in municipal government or government GIS
- Completed course work or college program in GIS or related field
- Experience with computer aided drafting (CAD) data and systems as related to GIS
- Familiarity with sewer and water utility terminology
