The Wisconsin DNR is hiring an LTE – IS Data Services Professional located at our central office in Madison, Wisconsin.
This dual LTE appointment is comprised of two 20-hour positions for an expected work schedule of 40 hours per week. The intention is to hire one candidate on both positions. See below for more information on the positions.
Position Summary
Position 1, IS Data Services Professional:
This position will support agency climate initiatives including ArcGIS Online web/story map application development, geospatial analyses and geospatial data processing.. In addition, this position will work with DNR staff and other stakeholders to define and document requirements.
30% – Develop ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Portal web maps and story maps. Follow DNR branding and technical guidance for ArcGIS Online development.
25% – Perform GIS data editing and processing using ArcGIS Pro and ArcMap. Tasks will include reformatting data, performing spatial analyses, developing cartographic products and publishing map services.
20% – Manage climate hub administration. Administer user accounts, groups and content.
15% – Gather and document requirements from agency stakeholders.
10% – Administrative time for meetings, trainings, and maintaining process documentation.
Position 2, IS Data Services – Senior:
This position will support rivers, lakes and streams hydrography mapping in Door and Brown counties. Hydrography mapping tasks will include deriving stream networks and waterbodies from digital elevation models and defining attributes. This work will involve researching and testing new GIS technical processes to improve efficiency. In addition, the position will be responsible hydro mapping quality control checks such as topology and attribute checks.
70% – Delineate stream networks and waterbodies from LIDAR-derived elevation data; transfer attributes from the DNR’s existing 24k Hydro data and research new methods
20% – Perform quality control of hydrography data including topology and attribute checks.
10% – Administrative time for meetings, trainings and maintaining process documentation.
Job Details
This is a Limited Term Employment (LTE) position. LTE positions do not automatically lead to permanent state employment or enjoy the same benefits as permanent employees; however, these positions do offer valuable work experience and an opportunity to learn more about career opportunities with the Department of Natural Resources and the State of Wisconsin.
LTE employees are limited to working 1039 hours per position within a twelve-month period.
In order to be considered for this position, you must be a resident of the State of Wisconsin.

Qualifications
Required:
– Experience using ArcMap and/or ArcGIS Pro for GIS data editing and GIS vector data editing
– Experience performing GIS geoprocessing, topology checks and attribute quality control
– Experience using ArcGIS Online and/or ArcGIS Portal for developing web mapping applications and story maps
– Experience documenting GIS technical procedures
Preferred:
– Experience using ArcMap and/or ArcGIS Pro for performing spatial analyses
– Experience using ArcGIS Online or Portal to develop web mapping applications and story maps.
– Experience with DEM and other raster processing methods.
– Experience working with diverse project stakeholders to define requirements
– Experience with managing geospatial attributes and databases.
– Experience with automating processes using Python or other scripting languages
– Experience working with climate or other natural resource GIS applications
