The Survey conducts earth-science surveys, field studies, and research. We provide objective scientific information about the geology, mineral resources, water resources, soil, and biology of Wisconsin. We collect, interpret, disseminate, and archive natural resource information. We communicate the results of our activities through publications, technical talks, and responses to inquiries from the public. These activities support informed decision-making by government, industry, business, and individual citizens.

This position will work primarily remotely but occasional travel to WGNHS’ s Mineral Point Office will be required to digitize old borehole logs. The office has its own parking lot and is on Bus Route 6.

  • Knowledge and skills to effectively interact with people from different cultural backgrounds, including those associated with race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, socioeconomic status, age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, and other aspects of human diversity.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Experience with Microsoft Access and Excel preferred but not necessary.
  • Experience with ArcMap and ArcCatalog or ArcGIS Pro preferred but not necessary.

This interim position is for a part-time student employment appointment. This position will work with the Archivist to attribute point locations of boreholes from the Mineral Development Atlas in ArcGIS, and to digitize drilling logs from that resource in MS Access.
