About the Ice Age Trail Alliance: The Ice Age Trail Alliance (Alliance) was founded in 1958 with the mission of caring for the Ice Age National Scenic Trail (Trail), one of only 11 such trails in the country. As part of its mission, the Alliance protects and manages land for the Trail. At the Alliance there is a culture that supports and inspires conservation achievements and personal development.
Primary Program Area: Lands
Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Working with Alliance staff and volunteers, successful applicant will assist the GIS Coordinator with updating, creating, and maintaining GIS data and maps at the Ice Age Trail Alliance’s headquarters in Cross Plains. This will include updating existing StoryMaps, improving the content for the Ice Age Trail in the FarOut mobile app, creating You-Are-Here and other maps, and gathering and incorporating information about Ice Age Trail features into the Alliance’s GIS data.
Location and Travel: Position is based in the Village of Cross Plains at the Alliance’s headquarters
Start date: Early June, 2023
End date: Mid -August, 2023
Hours: 20 hours per week, preferably including Tuesdays or Wednesdays.
Compensation: $15/hour
Successful applicant must:
- Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions
- Have GIS experience or be in a GIS-related field of study
- Have general knowledge of ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS StoryMaps, ArcGIS Online, map creation, data editing, etc.
- Must be 18 years or older by date of application
- Must be self-directed and able to work alone with minimal supervision
- Have solid interpersonal skills including the ability to maintain good working relationships with coworkers and volunteers
- Ability to effectively relate to a diverse range of people
