JOB DESCRIPTION
ISG is seeking motivated and enthusiastic interns to join our dynamic team for the summer. This internship program offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in telecommunications design, field data collection, and utility infrastructure analysis. This internship is a great opportunity for students pursuing careers in telecommunications engineering, GIS, or related fields to develop valuable skills in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Pursuing a degree in Telecommunications, Engineering, GIS, or a related field.
- Interested in learning about fiber optic networks, utility design, and telecommunications infrastructure.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and eager to gain experience with AutoCAD and ArcGIS.
- A self-starter with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
- Willing to travel up to 25% of the time.
- Possess a valid driver’s license.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Assist in the interpretation and analysis of engineering drawings and utility maps.
- Conduct fieldwork to collect underground and overhead utility data.
- Utilize GPS products and GIS software such as ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Field Maps for data collection.
- Gain familiarity with utility design requirements, materials, and plan production.
- Prepare AutoCAD and GIS utility plans.
- Support permit submittals, coordination, and oversight.
- Assist in the development of make-ready designs and estimates.
- Learn utility pole structure loading analysis using industry-standard software such as O-Calc Pro.
- Collaborate with experienced professionals on OSP (Outside Plant)
- Participate in FTTx (Fiber to the X) network layout and project implementation.
- Work alongside multidisciplinary teams to create functional, detailed, and sustainable designs.
Professional Development Program
Throughout the summer, interns will take part in our professional development program designed to enhance their skills and home in on their strengths. This program includes:
· Bi-Weekly Workshops: Participate in sessions led by Kinzee Miest and Mariah Burroughs covering topics such as goal setting, elevating your strengths, and building confidence in a professional setting.
· Mentorship: Receive guidance and support from a dedicated mentor who will help you navigate your internship.
· Career Development: Gain insights into career paths and opportunities within the engineering field through coaching sessions with your team leaders.
