Job Description: This is a half-time position (20 hours per week). This position will work under the supervision of permanent staff in the Ecological Inventory and Monitoring Section to provide data services expertise in support of the Aquatic and Terrestrial Resources Inventory (ATRI) program and other ecological inventory and monitoring projects. Responsibilties will include a combination of the following duties. 50% – Develop and manage standard geographically-based datasets for use by others, develop and implement procedures to manage information with consistency and quality, analyze customer data needs, determine appropriate tools for data access, define and resolve probelms with application databases, train and support customers in use of data access tools. 25% – Use GIS databases and related attribute information to compose cartographic representation of GIS data, conduct complex analysis and display of data in a geographic dimension. 20% – Compile and conduct statistical analyses of data and prepare written documentation and reports. 5% – Assist section staff as directed.

Knowledge Required:College coursework or demonstrated working experience in database development and management, GIS, and statistical analysis. This position requires excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to understand and follow Department data standards. In addition, organization skills and the ability to concurrently work on multiple tasks are necessary. General knowledge of biology, wildlife, botany, natural resources or a closely related fileld is also desireable.
