Purpose of Position
This position assists in the development, implementation and maintenance of the County’s Geographical Information System (GIS) and related databases.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The following duties are customary for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned:
· Prepares, maintains and revises county parcel and data-layer maps using computer-aided mapping.
· Assists in developing and maintaining GIS mapping and databases.
· Assists the public in obtaining geographical information.
· Attends conferences and training sessions related to assigned functions as approved by the Department Head.
· Assists other County departments with GIS applications.
· Assists with metadata development and updates.
Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Job Functions:
Associate degree in Geography, Cartography or related field with three years experience in a related field, or Six years of directly related experience in the use and development of geographic/land information systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in the field of geographic/land information systems, cartography, geography or surveying with one year experience in a related field.
