Applicant must currently be enrolled as a student or must have graduated within the last year. The person will be involved in the legacy scanning project. This person will scan USGS historical reports, including large maps. Working in a team atmosphere, he/she will prepare these paper reports and maps for scanning, to operate a variety of scanners, and assist in getting the files on the web.
The ability to solve problems and accomplish goals is required. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and an ability to operate a computer are critical. A working knowledge of the Windows operating system is needed. Knowledge of scanners is desired.
Work will be performed at the Cartography and Publishing Program Office, 505 Science Drive, Madison, Wisconsin, and at the Robinson Map Library in Science Hall. Hours will be up to 40 hours a week, weekdays.
