Full time position in the Lincoln County Land Information and Conservation Office. The primary function of the position is to provide field and office assistance to the County Surveyor and the GIS Project Coordinator/ Land Information Officer. Duties will include assisting the Surveyor with maintenance of the Public Land Survey System, providing field assistance for conventional and GPS surveying, and assisting with map preparation using survey and drafting software. Will assist the GIS Project Coordinator with digitizingparcel maintenance, attributing, ArcIMS website, teach others GIS softwareand editing procedures of ing of spatial data, will prepare maps using GIS software and will assist in land records modernization activities.

QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor’s or Associate degree required in Surveying, GIS, Geography, Geology, Computer Science or relevant field. Must understand GIS theory and applications and have experience using experience with total stations, levels, data collectors, GPS equipment ESRI GIS software, including ArcGIS, ArcView, and ArcMap. Data and map presentation and cartographic skills required, as well as an understanding of database design and file management practices. Ability to adapt to changing technology and adjust workflow to maximize efficiencies and improvements in technology is required. Experience and understanding of, ArcSDE, ArcIMS, ArcGIS and other GIS related programming languages is beneficial. Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, use hand tools, and be able to walk long distances while carrying equipment.

Bachelor’s or Associate degree from four-year college or technical college with surveying and or GIS background and experience with total stations, levels, data collectors, GPS equipment and software, such as ARCVIEW, ARCINFO, COGO and AutoCAD. Must have valid Wisconsin Drivers license. Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, use hand tools, and be able to walk long distances while carrying equipment.

SALARY:
Salary range $15.07 to $17.23 per hour (2005 wage schedule) to start, with room for growth based upon satisfactory performance over time. Eligibility for normal Lincoln County fringe benefits.
