Job Description:
80% Under general supervision develop complex database desktop and Web applications to automate weather information from external weather websites and integrate a server side GIS / mapping component from tabular information collected by the fire report system for the Bureau of Forest Protection. 20% Perform other work as assigned from the Divsion of Forestry’s IT project portfolio.
Knowledge Required:
Applicants must have sufficient training and experience to demonstrate that, upon appointment, the skills and knowledge necessary to perform the tasks have been acquired. Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and use of e-mail. Proficiency in Microsoft Access, Oracle, TOAD and VBscript ASP application development including Oracle SQL query writing, Oracle Database manipulation, advanced Javascript, cascading style sheets (CSS) and HTML coding is required. Proficiency in system design, coding, and translating user specifications to system design is required. Good oral and written communication skills are required. GIS web mapping skills including ArcIMS, ArcServer, and .NET are desired. Knowledge of Wisconsin’s forests and forestry is desirable. Knowledge of work planning systems and information management is desirable. Knowledge of Web development and applications is desirable.
This position is for a maximum of 1043 hours. Special requirement: A 4 year degree and 3 years of related experience OR 7 years of related experience.
