Degree and area of specialization:
B.S. with GIS emphasis in forestry, geography, environmental studies or related field. M.S. Preferred.
Experience in scientific research related to natural resources management and ecology is required. Strong working knowledge of ArcGIS required. Experience with Orthophoto software, ArcSDE, ArcIMS, and GIS programming highly desirable. Additional knowledge of ArcGIS Server, Oracle, and ERDAS Imagine preferred.
Principal duties:
Work with the Principal Investigator and other research team members in a collaborative environment on housing growth and its ecological effects on forest ecosystems across the United States. Carry out broad-scale GIS, remote sensing, and statistical analysis with very large datasets. Locate, acquire, and process GIS coverages and geodatabases. Develop and maintain ArcIMS applications. Work with collaborators in management agencies such as the National Park Service, and the Forest Service.
