40% – Implementation of reconnaissance program to gather, record, and update silvicultural prescription, habitat type, soils, and other applicable information. Develop long-range planning schedules for individual compartment stands including harvest schedules, priority schedules, reforestation needs, and noncommercial improvement projects
40% – Manage ARCVIEW/RAVE/GIS database while incorporating GPS use. Change existing electronic data and map files to reflect current conditions.
15% – Establishment of timber sales within the Flambeau River State Forest. Mark complex northern hardwood stands and other timber types.
5% – Other duties. Implement and direct spring tree planting. Assist forest staff with timber sale administration including scaling and contract enforcement.
Knowledge Required: Silvics, silviculture, forest measurement techniques, dendrology, air photo interpretation, ARCVIEW/GIS/GPS, and shrub and herbaceous identification. Experience in Northern hardwood marking. Four-year Graduate forester from accredited college with 6 months field experience
