Over the past 30 years, the firm has assembled a team of experts in the art of shaping and reshaping Midwestern cities and landscapes. The firm offers services in the areas of community planning and growth management, transportation planning, intergovernmental planning, urban revitalization and redevelopment, economic development, landscape architecture, urban and regional design, and plan implementation.

VANDEWALLE & ASSOCIATES is seeking a qualified individual to fill a GIS Analyst/Cartographer position. This professional position will analyze and prepare digital maps for a wide variety of community planning and economic development projects, primarily using ESRI ArcGIS. The person filling this position will participate on project teams to identify how best to use, analyze, and present geographic data to advance project objectives. Examples of work include thematic mapping, analysis of market and demographic data, and alternative futures land use analysis. The position will also be responsible for oversight of a GIS technician or intern, coordination with other employees who prepare visual communication tools, and quality control associated with GIS products.

Minimum educational requirements include a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, plus work experience in the field. Applicants should be skilled in written and verbal communications, a range of computer applications, organizing time efficiently, quality control, meeting deadlines, and independent work. A solid background in GIS, experience using ESRI ArcGIS software, understanding of basic cartographic mapping techniques and conventions are essential. Experience with Spatial Analyst/3D Analyst preferred. Position requires strong and creative analytical and problem solving skills.
