Position in Ashland, Wisconsin – Assists in the design, development, and management of database systems for the long-term maintenance, analysis and dissemination of natural resource-related data sets produced by past and forthcoming Inventory & Monitoring (I & M) efforts. Works closely with Network staff, park resource managers, scientists, GIS specialists, and cooperating personnel to evaluate legacy data, assures that relevant and useful data are acquired and integrated into the I & M program’s databases, and that such data complement existing data systems. Conducts programming in MS Access and other software to develop individual databases for inventory and monitoring projects. Works with Supervisor, other Network staff, and national program managers to tailor such database designs to fit the needs of field data collection and national goals for compatibility. Synthesizes a wide range of data types including biological, physical, and bibliographical in both tabular and spatial formats. Assures that metadata for these data sets are complete, current, and in compliance with FGDC standards.
