Job Responsibilities: The Market Planning & Research Department offers an opportunity to work and learn with a group of innovative individuals focused on guiding the growth of the leading drugstore retailer in the US. By providing unbiased research and analysis to help develop and support our company’s growth strategies, individuals from the start are challenged to contribute to the company’s bottom line. As a department we target new and existing market growth opportunities, create growth strategies for markets throughout the US, and work to maximize our potential in each market using the most advanced GIS (Geographic Information Systems) technology and business models.

As Walgreens continues to build and benefit from GIS technologies, new opportunities are created. As a GIS Analyst within Market Planning and Research, individuals will be expected to think creatively, explore new technologies, collaborate with Market Managers, and constantly strive to utilize GIS techniques to accomplish Walgreen growth strategies. Duties will include user training, map creation, system administration and maintenance, application development, and performing ad-hoc research to support all and any areas of the company. Advancement opportunities to senior positions are available as individuals demonstrate superior GIS aptitude and project management skills.

Job Qualifications: We need people with an in depth knowledge of GIS who are adept at interpreting complex, sometimes imperfect, data and persuasively presenting recommendations to a diverse group of clients.

-BA/BS Required Major: Geography, Decision Sciences, or Business, other fields of study welcome.
-Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills
-3.2 GPA or better
-Commitment to excellence
-Ability to work independently and as a team member
-Excellent Verbal and written communication skills
-Familiarity with the windows based operating environment
-Demonstrated mastery of GIS skills utilizing ArcGIS 8.x. Experience with ArcGIS extensions is a plus.
-United States citizenship required
