The Wisconsin Department of transportation currently has a vacancy for a Stereo Compilation Specialist in the Bureau of Technical Services. Thisposition plays an exciting role in extracting the terrain informationnecessary to compile the planimetric/topographic maps and digital terrain models needed to identify the existing horizontal features and variations of the earth’s surface.
Duties: Under general supervision, interpret and extract terrain information from aerial photography and compile engineering quality planimetric maps and Digital Terrain Models (DTM’s) with a varying degree of complexity. Operate analytical stereoplotters and softcopy workstations using a variety of mapping software programs. The data compiled by this position represent the ground truth and are the sole responsibility of the compiler to ensure accurate delineation of features and ground elevations which are the basis for transportation planning, design and construction final quantities. The compiler is responsible for file management on the workstation.
