Summary:

In this role, you will be responsible for dispatching electric and gas services. This position receives customer trouble and service tickets or calls, monitors the gas system, calls out employees for emergency work, receives and directs switching on the distribution systems and provides operations support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  This is a second shift position.

This position also performs visual and computer quality control checks on facility and/or landbase data, uses editor tools to make corrections and close and map work requests, ensures map products reflect correct geographic locations of facilities and have standard of cartographic quality and plots maps for use in field locations.

Job Qualifications:

  •  Demonstrated ability to perform and efficiently multi-task under adverse conditions.
  • Proven ability to effectively communicate with employees and public agencies.
  • Thorough knowledge of company policies and procedures pertaining to dispatching and a working knowledge of computer systems.
  • Successful completion of courses or work experience equivalent to two years of technical training in utility engineering beyond high school.
  • Four years experience in utility construction, engineering work and/or mapping.
  • Proficiency in high school mathematics.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction standards and work requests.
  • Understanding and knowledge of electric, gas and landbase components, operations and systems.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Familiarity and understanding of pole area maps, underground area maps, gas maps and switch diagrams.
  • Preferred knowledge of work request process and other corporate information systems such as Work Management System (WMS), Switch Maintenance (SWM), Transformer and Records Systems (TRS), Distribution Interruption Devices (DID), Distribution Management System (DMS), etc. Understanding of Geographic Information System (GIS) applications or graphical applications or the ability to learn them.
  • Ability to use computer systems.
  • Demonstrated cartographic skills.
  • Strong communication skills, including grammar, punctuation and telephone etiquette.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform accurate work in a time frame which meets department objectives.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to work in a culturally diverse work group and to perform the physical requirements of the job.
