This position conducts and coordinates conservation easement monitoring and reporting for the MNDNR Division of Fish and Wildlife. Primary duties include conducting baseline and monitoring surveys on conservation easements, communicating with landowners, preparing reports, and coordinating report approvals with Area and Regional Managers. This position also assists with new easement acquisition efforts by developing background parcel information and working with Central Office land acquisition and Area staff to bring parcel information into the Conservation Easement Stewardship Database. The position participates in statewide groups such as the Conservation Easement Stewardship Committee, and Conservation Easement Enforcement Panel. The position is also required to obtain training in stream geomorphology to identify stream reaches requiring habitat restoration and enhancement. A portion of the work also conducts habitat assessments on easements to inform management guidance.
- Thorough knowledge and experience in the use of Geographic Positioning Systems (GPS).
- Computer knowledge to include: a working knowledge of ArcView or ArcMap GIS software; proficiency with word-processing; experience with spreadsheet and database software.
- Effectively communicate both technical and non-technical information in written and oral format to a variety of audiences.
- Ability to safely work independently in remote areas inadverse weather and environmental conditions.
- Conflict management skills to analyze and resolve ambiguous or controversial situations.
- Ability to successfully work as part of a team to build strong working relationships with staff and conservation partners.
