About the Job
This position is responsible for management of PGC’s satellite imagery archive and the software/tools that facilitate organization and access to the data, which are the foundation of PGC’s science support work. The applicant will be responsible for building and maintaining imagery management and processing workflows, coordinating data production, and managing High Performance Computing (HPC) resources and projects. The applicant is expected to develop new tools for image processing and analysis as well as update and maintain legacy projects. Knowledge of GIS and Remote Sensing concepts is required.
Essential Job Functions and Approximate Percentage of Time:
- 35% Build and maintain imagery management and processing workflows
- 30% Develop new tools for image processing and analysis, as well as update and maintain legacy projects
- 25% Manage High Performance Computing (HPC) resources and projects to effectively meet the objectives of PIs and projects supported by PGC
- 10% Other duties as needed to help support overarching PGC research needs
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Remote Sensing, or a related science and two years of experience.
- Experience in Python or a related programming language
- Familiarity with Linux command line systems
- Experience with geospatial software and analysis
- Experience with relational databases
- Command of GIS/Remote Sensing fundamentals and concepts
Preferred:
- Advanced degree or 2+ years of experience in geospatial programming
- Experience interacting with HPC systems
- Expertise with Git or other version control and collaboration tools
- Experience using the GDAL/OGR and Arcpy libraries
- Experience with testing frameworks
