Overview:
Connexus Energy has an exciting opportunity to join our Geospatial Services team and help optimize the electronic model of our electric distribution system. The Geospatial Designer will support and train users, research and resolve data errors, and produce maps. In the Geospatial Designer role you’ll have the opportunity to implement GIS across multiple platforms, work with a wide variety of employees, and will be challenged to find new ways to connect and disseminate information.
Key Responsibilities & Results:

Model system changes supporting real-time operational modeling of the distribution system

Ensure GIS data follows mapping standards and rules of electrical connectivity

Provide technical support and training on GIS applications
-
Analyze GIS issues and investigate, test, and implement solutions
-
Document GIS best practices and mapping standards
-
Work with users to understand their needs to produce information and maps

Participate on teams in support of continuous improvement of mapping, processes, and automated systems and tools

Apply strong communication and analytical skills to identify requirements and system needs
Required Talents, Skills, Expertise, Education:
-
Bachelor’s degree in GIS/Geography or related field
- Geospatial mapping experience (via formal education or work experience)
- 2 years related work experience

Skilled in reading, interpreting and updating maps
-
Strong verbal and written communication skills
-
Strong analytical skills
-
Experience with ESRI ArcGIS
- Experience using Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, Visio)
Preferred Talents, Skills, Expertise, Education:
- Work experience in a utility setting, preferably for an electric utility
- Experience with Schneider ArcFM
- Experience with C#, Python and/or Arcade programming languages deployed in an GIS environment
