Job Summary

Under the direction of the GIS Supervisor, the ideal candidate for the Geographic Information System (GIS) Analyst position will be responsible for creating, maintaining, and editing maps, data, reports, and applications for Milwaukee County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) – Highway’s GIS and asset management system (Cityworks). The GIS Analyst will provide support by drafting process and technical documentation as well as leading trainings and providing technical support for end-users.

Job Responsibilities

  • Update, correct, validate, and verify core Highway GIS and Cityworks data.
  • Assist to create and maintain GIS applications using ESRI software and services including, but not limited to – WebApp Builder, Field Maps, Survey 123, ArcGIS for Power BI, Dashboards, and AGOL.
  • Assist in maintaining Highway Maintenance Division’s configuration of Cityworks with current employee, crew, and equipment information.
  • Provide first level support to satisfy internal and external client problems and questions regarding spatial data and web-enabled applications.
  • Assess problems and issues and resolve technical and usage conflicts.
  • Provide specialized project support services.
  • Draft and maintain process, technical, and training documentation.
  • Assist the GIS Supervisor, in researching standards, formulating and recommending best practice solutions related to the Milwaukee County Enterprise GIS on behalf of the MCDOT.
  • Create reports and develop presentations for GIS projects, demonstrations, and exhibitions.
  • Use of Equipment, Tools and Machinery – Operate vehicles, personal computer, and GIS based equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education, License/Certification and Experiences

  • Current residency within the State of Wisconsin upon application required
  • Valid Wisconsin Driver’s License required and must be maintained throughout incumbency
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in GIS, Cartography, Geography, Computer Science or closely related field required.
  • At least two (2) years or more work experience in GIS (web, enterprise), or Database Admin required.
  • Intermediate knowledge of all related computer and software applications, such as word processing and spreadsheets required.
  • Advanced knowledge of GIS required.
  • GIS project experience using Cityworks or other asset management system preferred.
  • SQL experience preferred.
  • Crystal Reports experience preferred.
