The WGNHS develops, maintains, and distributes information related to geology, groundwater, and other aspectsof the natural history and natural resources of Wisconsin. This position will support WGNHS research and outreach activities through the use of geographic information systems (GIS), Internet server software, database software, and other software. Examples of responsibilities include application development, training, providing GIS technical assistance, digital data capture and dissemination, data storage and backup, writing metadata and other documentation, and serving as liaison to other state agencies and organizations. The successful candidate will understand GIS principles; the application of GIS to natural resources research; methods of capturing, processing, and disseminating GIS data. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the development and use of geologic or other natural resource maps and databases.
