We are seeking a three-quarter-time summer student employee to assist with data management of information resulting directly from the nearly 30 HTLN inventory studies, i.e., reports, geospatial, and relational data. Please note that map making and geographic data analysis will be minimal. The candidate shall possess the following skills and abilities: *Fluent with ArcGIS (proven experience in both ArcMap and ArcCatalog) *Familiar with FGDC (both CSDGM and BDP) metadata requirements *Experience using Microsoft Access to enter and manipulate relational databases *Understanding of concepts such as projections, datums, coordinate systems, and database relationships. Responsibilities: 1) Prepare geospatial information in NPS standard formats. Reproject, convert, or create geographic data sets as necessary using ArcMap, and populate MSAccess tables ensuring that products conform to prescribed NPS I&M standards for geographic data and databases. 2) Document geospatial and inventory information. Write and parse FGDC-compliant metadata for geographic data and MS Access tables using ArcCatalog, SMMS, and mp. 3) Support development of ESRI personal Geodatabases (GDBs). Geospatial and inventory information (along with accompanying documentation) ultimately need to be converted to GDB data structures. Incumbent will assist with this migration process. 4) Coordinate efforts and workflow with UW-based office and HTLN staff. UW-based staff will provide day-to-day guidance. Ultimate direction and priorities will be established by HTLN staff (located in Springfield, MO). Frequent communication and documentation of progress will be required.
