Job Description: 40% Develops and maintains files (electronic copies and hard copies) and database for the state’s forest stewardship grant program and federal Forest Stewardship Program. Coordinates with federal and state agencies to update and maintain Wisconsin Forest Landowner Grant Program, Forest Land Enhancement Program, Forest Stewardship Program, Forest Legacy Program, Conservation Reserve Program, Environmental Incentive Program handbooks and mailing directories and conduct program administration. Gathers and assists in the preparation of USDA Forest Service semi-annual and annual accomplishment reports. 25% Conducts administrative work as required for the Forest Stewardship Program, including preparation of routine correspondence and answering questions, attending Forest Stewardship committee meetings, meeting logistics, preparation of minutes and agendas. Maintain records, evaluate applications and prepare for printing information associated with the state’s forest stewardship grant program. 25% Conducts administrative work as required for the Forest Legacy Program, including preparation of federal and state reports, preparation of grant applications for stewardship committee and drafting and editing conservation easement language. Assist with tracking and monitoring of Forest Legacy easements including the gathering of baseline information. Limited assistance with the Bureau of Facilities and Lands on acquisition and documentation as it relates to the Forest Legacy program. 10% Tracks budget expenditures for state and federal programs and enters into department fiscal system. Assists Forestry Incentives/Legacy Specialist with preparation of budgets, reports and accomplishments within program.
Knowledge Required: Education and/or experience in forest or natural resources management is required and a B.S. degree preferred. Good organizational, written aand oral communication skills are required. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to work effectively in teams with a diverse group of customers and idependently. Computer word processing, database and spreadsheet skills are required. GIS skills desired.
