This full-time employment position will contribute to a project oriented GIS services operation within the Wisconsin Department of Natural resources (WDNR), creating integrated applications and systems tools as components of geospatial project deliverables. Key responsibilities of this position will include: Assessing, designing, and building GIS technical solutions for components of sophisticated and integrated information systems and applications that are utilized in agency-wide initiatives. This will include the use and customization of ESRI ArcGIS ArcInfo and ArcView, ArcGIS Server, and ArcIMS software technology tools, and integration of these tools with spatial and tabular systems utilized within the agency.
Skills and knowledges required for this position will include: Applying the concepts, functionality, and appropriate implementation use of GIS software; utilizing the automated GIS processes as used with ArcGIS, ArcSDE, ArcIMS and ArcGIS Server software; utilizing advanced programming principles and practices, particularly in the use of Visual Basic, VB.Net, ASP.Net, Java, and other advanced object-oriented programming languages; and incorporating homogeneous types and sources of spatial data, and the methods used to compile, process, and implement those data using GIS technologies.
Well-qualified candidates will have three or more years of professional work experience analyzing, designing, and developing complex desktop and server-based Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology project deliverables, working in a cost-recovery services operation. Advanced programming and information systems design and development skills are required. Experience with natural resources related disciplines and technology use is desirable.
