The UW-Extension Center for Community Economic Development works with communities statewide and the Wisconsin Main Street Program to help downtown districts strengthen their role in community and regional economic development. The Downtown Economic Revitalization Assistant will have a direct role is supporting Extension educators and economic development professionals working to improve community vitality.
Assistant’s Responsibilities:
1. Assist in downtown market studies including the collection and analysis of consumer, demographic and economic data. Use GIS technology to map and examine data
2. Enhance the Center’s current web-based market analysis toolbox http://www.uwex.edu/ces/cced/dma/
3. Research various topics related to downtown economic revitalization and write newsletter articles on this research
Job Details:
16 hours per week (full year commitment requested)
$12 per hour
Preferred Candidate:
Graduate student with relevant work experience. Coursework in business (real estate, marketing research, entrepreneurship, etc.) urban planning, agriculture & applied economics, or geographic information systems (GIS) related to economics.
