Major Duties:
Provides resource expertise and advice for the development and application of geospatial information required to support implementation of national Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) applications and initial population of data modules, forest level special projects, and general GIS support to Forest Program Managers. Special project work is a major element of this position and involves analysis support to ID Teams working out of the Forest Supervisor’s Office on such projects as timber pipeline, supplemental Environmental Impact Statements(EIS), resolution and support to ongoing litigation and appeals, etc.
Provides recommendations on project planning, including timelines, data analysis capabilities, and information management considerations.
Applies fundamental principles and techniques associated with modeling and analysis procedures related to geospatial data and products. As a member of an interdisciplinary team, uses spatial statistical tools for modeling geospatial data to simulate, estimate, interpolate, and predict natural processes at the local unit or project level.
Coordinates input from local managers and other resource specialists to determine type, amount and level of information required for the development and analysis of project alternatives. Provides advice on the implementation, management, analysis, and use of geospatial information. Provides advice on the implementation of geospatial data standards and additional data elements that may be necessary to meet local needs.
Position is located in the Eastern Region, Region 9, Chaquamegon-Nicolet National Forest of USDA Forest Service. The duty location is Park Falls, WI.
