Degree and area of specialization: Masters Degree in landscape architecture, environmental studies, or any other natural resource field.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience: Training and 3 or more years of experience. Demonstration of proficiency in using and applying GIS to natural resource management and research problems is also required. Competency with ArcGIS 9 (ArcView) is needed, and with the extensions, especially spatial analysis, 3D, and geostatistical. Ideally instructor will also have scholarship in landscape ecology and/or conservation biology and familiarity with associated spatial analysis programs (e.g. Fragstats) and habitat mapping & reserve design models.
Principal duties: Teaching LA 695: Applications of GIS in Natural Resources 33.3%
3 Credits: Detailed review of GIS concepts, case studies, GIS implementation methods, and laboratory to provide “hands-on” GIS experience. Current ecological theory and GIS will be used to address conservation issues through applied exercises.
