Degree and area of specialization: Master’s degree with at least 1 degree from an accredited Landscape Architecture program; or a BSLA from an accredited program.
Minimum number of years and type of relevant work experience: With Master’s degree: at least 3 years of relevant work experience. With BSLA degree: at least 5 years of relevant work experience.
For LA 262: In addition to above, familiarity with ESRI GIS programs required. Previous experience with the course highly desired.
Principal duties:
LA 270: Landscape Architecture Workshop 25%
2 Credits: Teach the basic principles of landscape design from the artistic rules of design composition to reading and interpreting construction drawings. Principle audience will be people in the Green Industry interested in understanding landscape architectural practice. Class will be held Wednesday evenings from 5:30-8:30.
LA 351: Housing and Urban Design 44.4%
4 Credits: An application of landscape design principles and problem-solving methods to housing and urban issues. Introduction to site design, land-use controls, and the relationship between housing, urban design, and associated land uses. Projects focus on the central city and/or suburbs.
LA 262: Landscape Inventory and Evaluation Methods 50%
4 Credits, 3 Sections: Teach the studio portion of LA 262, a course introducing students to site inventory and analysis techniques. The course covers approaches to field observation and data collection of both natural and cultural resources, and the use of computerized Geographic Information Systems to synthesize, analyze, and present spatial information. Since this is one of the first studio offerings for students who plan to major in Landscape Architecture, it is essential that the instructor bring enthusiasm, as well as skill and experience, to the course.
