This position provides a college student interested in municipal planning/zoning and local government the opportunity to gain valuable work experience during the summer months. The student selected for this program will perform various office and field duties, while having the opportunity to observe first-hand the operation and organization of a local government planning/zoning department.
Requirements: Applicants must (1) be interested in planning/zoning and municipal government; (2) have excellent character, professional appearance and ability to work effectively with others; (3) have some background in drafting, plan reading, and the basic principles of the built, social, and natural environments; (4) have experience with personal computer spreadsheet and word processing programs; (5) have some background in GIS; (6) hold a valid driver=s license for duration of appointment.
Duties: Duties may include performing miscellaneous field work; updating and administering local and neighborhood plans, ordinance review, code compliance, and assisting in special planning department and municipal projects that may be assigned.
